Green Bay Packers running back Josh Jacobs was arrested Tuesday and booked into the Brown County Jail in Wisconsin, facing one felony and four misdemeanor charges stemming from a domestic disturbance reported three days earlier. He denies the allegations.

The Charges Jacobs Faces

Police in Hobart and Lawrence, Wisconsin, responded to a disturbance complaint at 8:37 a.m. on Saturday, May 23, 2026. Jacobs, 28, was not arrested until Tuesday, May 26, when he was booked into the Brown County Jail on bond set at $1,350.

He faces five charges in total. The felony count is strangulation and suffocation. The four misdemeanors are battery (domestic abuse), criminal damage to property (domestic abuse), disorderly conduct (domestic abuse), and intimidation of a victim. All four misdemeanors carry domestic abuse designations under Wisconsin law, which can affect bail conditions and sentencing exposure if charges are later proven.

Hobart/Lawrence Police Chief Michael Renkas said in a statement that the investigation remains active and ongoing, and that no further details would be released at this time. The gap between the incident date and the arrest suggests investigators collected evidence and consulted with prosecutors before making the arrest, though the police have not confirmed that sequence.

What Jacobs' Attorneys and the Teams Said

Jacobs' legal team — attorneys David Chesnoff, Richard Schonfeld, and Clarence Duchac — issued a joint statement saying he "vehemently denies the allegations." The statement noted that the matter is in its early stages, that important evidence has not yet been made public, and asked for fairness throughout the judicial process.

The Green Bay Packers acknowledged the situation and declined to comment further, citing the ongoing legal proceedings. The NFL said the same. Neither the team nor the league indicated whether any internal disciplinary process had been initiated under the league's Personal Conduct Policy, which can operate independently of criminal proceedings.

What the Arrest Means for Jacobs' Status With the Packers

Jacobs is entering his eighth NFL season and his third with Green Bay, having signed with the Packers in free agency in 2024. He was the NFL's rushing champion in 2022 with the Las Vegas Raiders and is a three-time Pro Bowl selection. In the 2025 season, he posted 929 rushing yards and 13 rushing touchdowns, making him the Packers' top returning rusher heading into 2026.

Charges are allegations and do not constitute a finding of guilt. The investigation remains open, and the full evidentiary record has not been disclosed publicly. How the case proceeds — including whether charges are modified, dismissed, or result in a prosecution — will determine any further consequences for his playing status. The Packers' training camp is scheduled for summer 2026, and no roster or contract action has been reported.
